SEND Information
Larches High School is an inclusive school. All pupils, including those with additional needs, have opportunity and are encouraged to take part in all aspects of school life. Here at Larches High, we value the abilities, achievements and differences of all its pupils, and is committed to providing for each pupil the best possible environment for learning. The school is committed to ensuring that all pupils, including those with specific and/or additional educational needs, make significant progress and remain healthy, safe and engaged. To achieve this, it is of paramount importance that the educational needs that pupils experience during their school career are identified swiftly and that appropriate provision is made to ensure that these needs can be met. We do this through an expansive set of assessments to establish any unmet needs. In some cases, the needs of the pupil warrant an Education Health Care Plan and we support the parent through this process. More information on EHCP can be found here https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/practitioners/supporting-children-and-families/send/sen-support-and-ehc-plans. If you think your child could benefit from an EHCP please contact the SENCo Ms Amy Shorrock at a.shorrock@larches.lancs.sch.uk for an informal chat.
Please find attached our Local Offer, SEND policy and SEN report for the year 2024-25.
If you and your child, who has special educational needs, requires additional support, you can also contact the SENDIASS team on information.lineteam@lancashire.gov.uk or call them on 0300 123 6706. They are able to advise you on SEND matters relating to education.
LCC SEND HELPLINE – 01772 533900
Getting the right information and support for children and young people with SEND can be frustrating for families, schools and support services. As requests for statutory assessment and numbers of EHC plans issued continue to increase, so does demand for information and support from LCC’s SEND Teams. In response, a SEND helpline has been set up with a view to improving communication with families and key partners. This has already been trialled successfully with schools over recent weeks, and the SEND Helpline has now gone live for parent carers and anyone who supports CYP with SEND. Lines are open 9:00-5:00 Mon-Fri.
